The meeting was called to order by Mrs. Vilardi at 7:00 P.M.

Minutes: Motion made by Mr. Schlicht, seconded by Mrs. Foster, to accept the minutes of the last meeting. Motion PASSED – Ayes – 5, Nays – 0. Voting aye – Vilardi, Schlicht, Ellis, Foster, Conway.

FINANCIAL REPORT: Mr. Chartrand gave a brief report. He still has not received a bill for the summer swim bus. He will follow up with Mrs. Denise Johnson, bus dispatcher.

ZONING REPORT: Judge Garrett will keep Mr. Drumm updated on the Randall appearance issue. Their attorney requested a 1-month adjournment but was granted 2 weeks from October 1st.

HIGHWAY REPORT: ● Mr. Virgil reported PESH came and performed an inspection. Most corrections are already completed.
● The employees are not interested in the proposed new insurance plan.
● Mr. Virgil expressed the need for a generator.
● The garage could use a new tool box. Quotes are from Beam Mack for $1,325
and from Ace Hydraulic for $1,590 for a 56” 10-drawer tool box.
● Mr. Virgil noted they could use a fireproof hazardous materials cabinet at a cost
of approximately $700.
● Safety coats are also needed. Quotes for five vests include $500 from
Public Safety and $290 from Delo.

Motion by Mr. Schlicht, seconded by Mr. Conway, to approve the purchase of the Beam Mack tool box. Another motion by Mrs. Foster, seconded by Mr. Conway, to approve the purchase of a fireproof HAZMAT cabinet. A third motion was made by Mrs. Foster, seconded by Mr. Conway, to approve the purchase of five breakaway vests from Delo. All motions PASSED – Ayes –5, Nays – 0. Voting aye – Vilardi, Schlicht, Ellis, Foster, Conway.

NEW BUSINESS:

Fire Department Budget: Liability insurance dropped by $4,000, according to Mr. Herlihy. Their budget will have no effect on the present tax rate. There will be just under a 1.13% increase in the tax rate overall.


Regular Town Board Meeting October 19, 2009



Brown Memorial Park: Mr. Herlihy would like to have the parking lot sealed, which would cost about $5,000. He also suggested some edging around the playground.

Village: The Village would like some space downstairs at the Community Center to keep their records. It was decided the Village could share the office with the Town Historian, Peter Schlicht.

Zoning or Planning Member: Mrs. Vilardi reported that Mr. Craig Peterson is interested in serving on a Town committee. The Planning Board may be in need of one more board member.

Election: The County is interested in shifting the cost of elections back to the towns. Fabius’ cost would be $4,157.
OLD BUSINESS:

Bed & Breakfast: Application was approved.

Historical Society: Ms. Beglinger has inventoried the time capsule and it is now ready to be buried.

Motion by Mrs. Foster, seconded by Mr. Ellis, to pay the bills on Abstract #9 in the following amounts:

Highway Fund Vouchers 118 through 134 $ 18,064.30
General Fund Vouchers 222 through 244 $ 8,602.96

Motion PASSED – Ayes –5, Nays – 0. Voting aye – Vilardi, Schlicht, Ellis, Foster, Conway.

The next regular meeting, and public hearing concerning the 2010 Budget, will be Wednesday, November 4, 2009 beginning at 7:00 PM at the Fabius Area Community Center.

Motion to adjourn meeting at 7:40 PM made by Mr. Schlicht, seconded by Mrs. Vilardi. Motion PASSED – Ayes – 5, Nays – 0. Voting aye – Vilardi, Schlicht, Ellis, Foster, Conway.
